Ahmedabad, 2 May 2013

While addressing a BJP campaign rally in poll-bound Karnataka’s Mangalore today afternoon, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi criticized Pakistan and Government of India for brutal killing of Sarabjit Singh – an Indian citizen in Pakistani jail who died few hours back. Modi described Sarabji’s murder as extra judicial killing by Pakistan and blamed weak Indian government for not doing enough and leaving the entire issue to Sarabjit’s crying family.

“Can you imagine what happened to Sarabjit? He was killed!! And this is my direct allegation against Pakistan, and I want to attract attention of international community on this. This is a clear case of extra judicial killing. Prisoners do clash in each country and some time accidents too do happen, but clash in fansi kholi(where prisoners of death penalty are kept) is not possible. Death penalty prisoner is kept in isolated cell. He is never allowed to meet other persons. There’s never ever a case of clash in fansi kholi. What is the reason then that Sarabjit was killed in this style in fansi kholi?” Modi said.

“The govt of India had time to create opinion internationally in its favour in Sarabjit issue, world’s all nations could be made aware about this issue. There was a need to create international pressure on Pakistan, but the government in Delhi left entire issue to be dealt by Sarabjit’s family. Sarabjit’s family was crying, but Delhi govt didn’t demonstrate its diplomatic strength, and any other kind of strength,” he continued.

“And this all because a weak government in Delhi. In entire world, there’s none who speak in favour of India. What are you doing Mr. Prime Minister? China is erecting its tents, building roads, parading its army, and the Government of India can’t find any direction on how it will solve the issue,” Modi further said.

“A small nation like Maldiv is showing red eyes to India. Bangladesh is not ready to listen. Italy refuses to give back two accused, and Supreme Court had to intervene to call them back.”

“Can we put trust on these people? I want to ask question to youths present here. Do you want to continue to elect these people who run the nation and caused many difficulties to you and your parents in all these years?”
