Director General of Police(DGP), Anti Corruption Bureau P.P.Pande has been given additional charge of Director General of Police(DGP), Gujarat State as outgoing DGP P.C.Thakur has been transferred to centre as Director General of Civil Defense and Home Guards under Ministry of Home Affairs.
1980 batch IPS Shri P. P. Pandey, born on 1st February 1957 is M.A. (Political Science). He joined IPS cadre on 23-12-1080. He is senior most IPS officer after outgoing DGP P.C.Thakur. Next in hierarchy is Shri H.P.Singh from the same batch but little junior than Shri Pandey.
1982 batch Indian Police Service(IPS) officer Geetha Johri was believed to become new Director General of Police(DGP) of Gujarat State or in simple words a new Gujarat Police chief. Johri is first women IPS officer in Gujarat cadre. If chosen this time or in future for the post of DGP, she may become the first Gujarat state police chief who is a woman.
While Johri is originally from Tamil Nadu, her senior Shri P.P. Pandey is from Uttar Pradesh and Shri H.P. Singh is from Punjab. The other name in discussion for the post of DGP was Shri Pramod Kumar who is 1983 batch IPS and junior to Johri.
